From Science to Writing

I started my copywriting business after working as a staff scientist for a leading environmental consultancy. In that position, I worked on large global teams to help create regulatory compliance management systems for some of the world’s biggest companies.

Before that, I worked in scientific roles ranging from pharmacology research technician to environmental field assistant to undergraduate lab instructor. I even spent time in a pharmacology lab, running assays, doing tissue culture and helping implement an electronic supply tracking system.

Along the way, I became an expert in technologies from GIS, modeling and statistical software to water and geological testing equipment. I’ve used dataloggers and soil augers, high pressure liquid chromatography (HPLC) and X-ray fluorescence instruments, among others.

One thread tied all my previous positions together: writing.

Throughout my career, I’ve contributed my writing skills to the success of every team I’ve worked on. Sometimes that meant writing grants or compiling research findings, other times it meant creating reports, website copy or corporate sustainability content.
